Is Marijuana Your Magic Muse? Spark Inspiration Using the Creative Thinking Journal

Are you a weed-loving writer, elevated artist, dope designer, maker or musician who uses Mary Jane? You may not realize just how effective cannabis can be in helping you tap into your personal power and heighten your creativity. Pot provides very potent medicine to clear creative blocks and get you unstuck. Pilgrim Soul even has a journal to help turn your high time creative.

“Creative Thinking is a competitive edge in so many aspects of life and work. It is about reinventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun.”

The Creative Thinking Journal

Pilgrim Soul is a purpose-driven cannabis lifestyle brand on a mission to help people view problems in entirely new ways, break out of their comfort zones, and tap into what makes them uniquely creative. Their Original Creative Thinking Journal is a guided journal, meant to be used while high, that helps to engage your imagination in order to uncover new ideas, build more productive habits and inspire creative thinking.

As a company Pilgrim Soul is also committed to social justice, and provides promotional and financial support to a diverse array of artists. We love a mission-driven Mary Jane brand! The cover art of The Original Creative Thinking Journal is titled “Rorschach Series Abstract 0089.” It comes courtesy of Clarence James, a Washington DC street artist and painter. James draws inspiration from Black culture, hip hop, punk, and skate culture, just to name a few. He describes his art as “an exploration of truth and self,” and “artwork that communicates with the subconscious and establishes a connection between individuals and universal consciousness.”

Choose Your Own Adventure

The folks at Pilgrim Soul were kind enough to send me the Creative Thinking Journal so I could experience it for myself. This journal contains creative challenges that prompt you to think in new and unique ways. There are word associations, creative writing prompts, and drawing exercises just to name a few.  I started doing the exercises in order, but I found that I had way more fun when I flipped to a random page and switched things up. The element of surprise made my experience more enjoyable.

Throughout the pandemic I’ve been dealing with some serious writer’s block, and I felt like journaling was a much healthier way to work out the kinks than stumbling into the scroll hole on Instagram, tumbling down the TikTok FYP, or getting lost in the rage abyss of Twitter. I also love the branded hashtags Pilgrim Soul provided – they’re a fun way to encourage sharing and connecting with other creatives using the journal.

Your Magic Muse

Incorporating cannabis into your creative process can ignite your imagination. Honing my own creativity has helped me pursue my passions as a writer and creator in the cannabis space. It enables me to do my part to snuff out the stigma associated with cannabis. It equips me with the tools to share information and educate people about plant medicine. It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, increased my visibility online, and helped me join forces with other creators and entrepreneurs. Not to mention it connected me with other high-minded people, so I could share my story with the world. I can look back at my portfolio over the past few years and see the evolution of my aesthetic, design, and writing skills along the way.

Spark Inspiration

Over the past few years I’ve come to understand that having some kind of creative outlet is necessary for my quality of life. Combining a joint with the Creative Thinking Journal gives me the chance to spark up, then spark inspiration. I can write, draw, and create whether or not anyone hears, sees or shares what I’m doing. The simple act of getting ideas out of my head and onto paper can feel cathartic and satisfying. It teaches me that there’s magic in making mistakes and coloring outside the lines too. So what about you? Is marijuana your magic muse? Leave a comment below, and let me know how you’ll spark inspiration using the Creative Thinking Journal.
